Future Mars Mission
NASA's Sand Your Name to Mars campaign invited people around the globe to submit the names to ride along on the rover. Names will be written on 3 fingernail-sized chips on board the Perseverance rover.
Names are stenciled onto the chip using an electron beam by engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The written is less than 1 micron by E-beam machine, which is normally used for high-precision fabrication in JPL' Microdevices Laboratory. A placard commemorating NASA's Send Your Name to Mars campaign was installed on the Perseverance Mars rover.
The chips were mounted to a small plate attached to the center of the aft crossbeam on Perseverance, where they are visible to cameras on the rover's mast.
A laser-etched graphics are placed on the plate, depicting Earth and Mars connected by the rays of the Sun that gives light to both. Morse code is written in the Sun's rays as Explore As One. The illustration pays tribute to the plaques on the Pioneer spacecraft and the Golden Records carried into space by Voyagers 1 and 2.
Your name will fly on NASA's next Mars mission.
It is very convenient to create a boarding pass on the official website. You may find the links in the reference below.
Interestingly, Chinese occupy the largest population in registering the boarding pass. Now we have nearly 17 million names of earthlings are on Mars Perseverance.
